DAY TWENTY THREE (x)
Stuck in a waiting room. Which magazine do they pick up? She brought a book to read, and probably also a sketchbook in case she finds something interesting to draw.
Morality:
What is one thing in their past they’re ashamed of? One thing they’re proud of? Oh wow. The answer to both of these questions is somehow the same exact thing. Lyanna feels SO CONFLICTED about running away from Winterfell that it’s difficult to explain how shame and pride both play a part in these emotions, but it’s easier to see if you break everything down into smaller parts: She’s proud of herself for doing what she thought was the right thing by helping the princess and prince (and subsequently, she thought, all of Westeros). She’s ashamed that she ran away to do it. She’s ashamed that her actions led to such a complete loss of life, to the destruction of all the things she held dear, to so much tragedy. She’s ashamed that she did it also to shirk her responsibility to Winterfell; she is ashamed that she did not sacrifice her happiness and her life to be Robert’s wife (perhaps this is why she sacrifices so much now). She’s proud of Jon though– Jon is the best thing she ever did with her life. Sometimes she wonders if she could, given the choice, trade her son for her brothers, for her father, for Rhaegar and Elia, and Rhaegar’s mother, and for every soldier who died because of her, she wonders if some god offered her that choice, if she could go back and do it all another way. But she doesn’t think she could. And that, that shames her most of all.

DAY TWENTY TWO (x)
Describe one (or more) plots you would like to do. I don’t mean to complain, because I knew when I made this blog that there would be a certain number of times where Lyanna would have to explain and prove who she is given that she’s been gone so long and everyone thought her dead, but I’ve been writing her for about two years now, and tbh, how many times can Lyanna argue the same thing?? I’d just really like more plots where we skip that part. I’d like plots that show how Lyanna fits in with other Starks once they accept who she is– if they’re angry or resentful towards her, then that’s fine, but I’d really like to see that rather than “you are an imposter!!” and other similar declarations. I’d like to know if people listen to her opinions, if they appreciate her efforts to care for them, if they ask her for stories about growing up with Ned. I want to know if they respect her, accept her, if they ask about the rebellion, if they are glad she’s returned, if they think she never should have come back. I think I really only have a couple of partners who have made it clear how they even feel about Lyanna, so I’d just like more of that. More of later. Maybe even post-canon threads that take place 15yrs after Ned has died.

DAY TWENTY ONE (x)
Who do they want to meet? Her son, Jon Snow.
What about them is heroic? This is a tough question to answer because I personally feel that a lot of the decisions Lyanna has made were heroic in nature, but their outcome was absolutely horrible and in retrospect, one can see how flagrantly irresponsible they were. But for a sixteen year old girl to see those kinds of outcomes is an unreasonable expectation. I think that it was heroic of Lyanna to agree to surrogate a child for Elia and Rhaegar so that Elia wouldn’t have to risk her life to have a third baby. I think it was heroic of Lyanna to give up Jon to Ned in order to keep his life safe in the even that her identity was ever discovered. I think it was heroic of Lyanna to become a champion for Dorne and help Doran keep the country safe and fed. I think it was heroic of her to leave Dorne and risk everything to help her family. Now, this doesn’t actually answer the question per se of what it is about her that makes Lyanna heroic but I think at the heart of each of these deeds is the same quality: Lyanna puts the wellbeing of others as a huge priority and often puts it before her own wellbeing. Also, she is stupidly brave.
What would the character be like in their old age? Oh man, kind of like the grandmother from Moana I think. I don’t believe she would ever 100% fit in no matter where she ended up (even in the North), but she marches to the beat of her own drum and she cares deeply for her family (and she’s a little bit sassy).

DAY TWENTY (x)
If these don’t apply already: do they want to get married? Have kids? I mean Lyanna destroyed half of Westeros to avoid getting married, but I don’t think it’s the institution that offends her. It’s really the ides of losing her freedom, of having someone who owns her and wants to control her and make her his possession. I think Lyanna would be open to getting married and having more children if the right person came along.
Would they ever consider adopting a child? Why or why not? Of course! Lyanna loves children, and she’s very big on protecting those who need protection. I also think she would probably consider that she relied on others to take care of her own son when she couldn’t.
Do they have any prominent sensory associations? (Ex. the smell of their mother’s perfume, the sound of ice cracking under their feet as a child, etc.) I think everyone does?? But for Lyanna these are heavily winter based (snow and ice, birch trees, grass, the smell of the woods after it’s rained, winter roses, etc.).

DAY NINETEEN (x)
Future:
What are their dreams? I know that this question intended to ask about aspirations, but Lyanna doesn’t really have any outside of ‘keep my family and other loved ones alive’ SO I’ve chosen to answer this question more literally and discuss Lyanna’s actual dreams. Like many other members of the Stark family, Lyanna is a warg; however, her connection to that ability is much, much weaker than her nieces and nephews, and she is wholly unaware of her ability. The only real time that it plays a part for her is when she’s sleeping– Lyanna has always had meaningful and sometimes prophetic dreams, often in them she is an animal (usually a wolf or coyote, although she isn’t always aware that this is what’s going on), and sometimes she is able to communicate with others through dreams. More often than not, though, her dreams are very shifty and metaphorical, which makes them difficult to interpret or understand. Lyanna is not aware that anything that happens in her dreams is necessarily meaningful, although she often has the same dream over and over again (perhaps the universe trying to get a certain message across). She very often dreams of other Starks, her son in particular, but she doesn’t always know that’s who they are. The night that Ned was attacked in King’s Landing, Lyanna began having dreams that she and Ned were in the weirwood together, and she knew he was there with her, but she could not find him. Most often, she dreams of snow, of ice, and of the wall. If her son is not in her dream or she cannot feel his presence there, sometimes she will look over her shoulder and see a crow (even if it does not make sense for a crow to be there). Every once in a while, Lyanna dreams of Winterfell specifically, and she wanders the halls of her childhood home barefoot and in her dressing gown, as though sleep has transported her there. People cannot see her and she believes that in her dreams, she is a ghost (although that’s probably not the case, I would theorize it’s more of a form of astral projection).
What do they want to do someday? Save her family. Drive the Boltons from Winterfell. Put an end to the injustice. Right the wrongs. End the tyranny. Restore the throne. Protect the forest. Introduce folk dancing. Demand a four-day workweek and health care for Saxons and Normans.
Are there places they want to go? Where and why? I mean if Lyanna’s family weren’t in immediate and unceasing PERIL, I suppose she would want to travel the world someday, with someone she loved (ideally with Jon, too). No one place in particular, just an endless wandering, to discover all manner of places and people and experience everything the world has to offer, and learn everything she can.

DAY EIGHTEEN (x)
If applicable: who is their current partner, and what attracted the character to them? How did they meet? How long have they been together? What kind of a relationship is it? Do they have any plans for the future?
Because the question says “current,” I’m going to go with @anarchywithin, because Rhaegar is long dead in Lya’s default verse (also I totally had a dream about Kate last night so). I would definitely say what attracted Lyanna to Sawyer is his loyalty at first, then his tenacity, the way he fights, and I think the final blow would be the way he looks at her. Like she’s some other woman, like she is everything she was ever supposed to be. The timeline of Lyanna’s travels is super hazy, so they’ve been together since she left Sunspear, however long ago that was (definitely months though), though the amount of that time during which they were romantic is probably even more difficult to pin down. Their relationship begins with him as her hired sellsword, but evolves into I think his banner’s loyalty to her house, and then beyond that. I’m not sure how else to answer that question except to say that it’s a good relationship– good for Lyanna and Sawyer both. Renews their faith in the world, and brings them back home to fight the good fight. Plans for the future include massacring Boltons and setting Winterfell straight, then securing the Northern throne.
What would be their perfect date? I think her ideal date with Sawyer would be any time they can be alone and not plagued by the constant death and politics around them. If I wanted to be a real sap, I’d say an extra cold night at the inn when there weren’t enough rooms and they had to share and there’s a fire and he knows exactly who she is or he thinks he does, and then things warm up ifyouknowwhatImean,
Describe one of the character’s past relationships and what was significant about it. I mean Lyanna’s relationship with Rhaegar and Elia is the only other romantic relationship she’s ever had– and it wasn’t very romantic, aside from her own crush (I mean I can’t say how they feel about her, maybe she’s more charming than I think lmao). It was significant for her though because it was her first: it set a standard for what love means for her and what kind of sacrifice it costs, and what kind of reward it can reap. It rooted a fear within her of its power.
Have they ever hurt someone they loved? I mean Lyanna believes that she is directly responsible for the death of nearly everyone she’s ever loved, plus the abandonment of her son, sooooooo…
Do they fall in love easily? Yes and no. Lyanna has a big heart and she cares very deeply for people, but she doesn’t really allow herself romantic love in the more traditional sense because she’s so conditioned to fear it. It’s likely a huge source of internal conflict for her.

DAY SIXTEEN (x)
Sex and Romance:
What is their sexual orientation?
Lyanna is pansexual.
Do they ever question it? She doesn’t question it.
30 DAY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT MEME;;

DAY FIFTEEN (x)
Who is their closest friend, and why? What do they like to do with this person? Even though @seraphvoiced doesn’t write her blog anymore, Lyanna’s best friend is Kryssa Dayne, who went with Lyanna to Dorne and was present for the birth of her son. She’s the only person aside from the Martells who knows Lyanna’s true identity, and she’s the only person who Lyanna feels really knows her, and Kryssa has always been there for her. She gave up her life before the rebellion to go south with Lyanna. Mostly they go for walks and explore Sunspear, but they also hang out together discussing their favorite books and other matters of more pressing importance.
Do they have any rivals? Who and why? Rivals?? Probably not.
Have they ever been betrayed? By who, and how did it affect them? I mean, Lyanna considers it a betrayal that the king killed her father and brother, even though she understands that there was nothing Rhaegar could do. She also feels it was a betrayal to wage a war in her name and kill so many people as though this were something she could ever condone. She will never be over what happened to Elia and her children, and she would prooooobably pee on Robert Baratheon’s grave if given a chance.
30 DAY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT MEME;;

DAY FOURTEEN (x)
Do they, or have they in the past, had a mentor? What was their relationship with this person, and how has it changed since then? I suppose Lyanna has had a few mentors, but the most notable of these is, of course, Doran Martell. I’m sure that he wasn’t happy about keeping his promise to his sister after she died, and Lyanna probably reminded him a lot of something very painful, but over the decade and a half that Lyanna spent as Doran’s ward, they developed a very close relationship. Doran became the only family that Lyanna had, and she loves him very much. More than that, however, is how much Doran influenced Lyanna as a person. She may have grown up in Winterfell, but she became a woman in Dorne, and much of her adult personality and skillset were hugely affected by Doran’s leadership. There are so many ways in which this is the case, but the foremost of which are his encouragements of her as a combatant, as an advocate for Dorne, and in her continued education.
Supporting Lyanna’s desire to fight not only gave her the ability to protect herself (and others, if need be), but it also granted Lyanna confidence in herself and taught her important life skills such as having to rein in her temper and master the art of schooling her features when need be, but also patience, and meditation, as well as an outlet for her anger and frustration. The physicality of learning how to fight kept Lyanna healthy both physically and emotionally. She learned how to take care of herself and how to vent in a constructive way. She learned how to keep her emotions from getting the best of her, to stay in control, even when lives are at stake (this was perhaps her most difficult lesson, as Lyann tends to be emotional, but it helps her in matters of ambassadorship as well). Combat also developed much of her faith and allowed her to find a closeness with the old gods and and inner peace that she lacked when she arrived in Dorne. It helped her in many ways to become who she is now, and none of these things would have been available to her if it weren’t for Doran Martell.
Doran also trusted Lyanna to help take some of the weight of Dorne from his shoulders, which eventually became a position as an ambassador to the country. Not only did this give Lyanna a purpose larger than herself that allowed her to put aside her guilt and depression in order to have a meaningful life, but it also allowed her to travel, to learn about other cultures, and to think strategically as well as bargain with high stakes. Lyanna learned very quickly about the Dornish economy and political climate, and it became important to her to help Doran take care of his people (who very quickly became her own people as well). She knows about outmaneuvering power-hungry houses because she watched Doran protect his position from Dornish nobility who would have seen him outed as prince. She knows about economy because Doran let her help him balance the country’s finances with feeding its people. This subsequently taught her about trade because Dorne relies so heavily on imports in order to eat, due to the climate making it difficult to develop domestic agriculture. The cornerstone of Dorne’s survival is trade with Essos, and Lyanna became the lynch pin to securing those arrangements. If Doran had not involved her, believed in her, and given her that kind of responsibility, Lyanna never would have become the woman she is.
What sort of education have they had? Do they want more? Lyanna did learn from a tutor when she grew up in Winterfell, but much of the bulk of her education did not come from traditional classroom learning, but rather from her own hunger for knowledge. She loves to read, and enjoys books on a wide variety of subjects, and additionally loves to travel, which brings its own kind of education. Much of this was also influenced by Doran Martell, as he was a big part of giving her access to books, to other tutors, and to other parts of the world.
Who was their idol growing up? Who was the first person they fantasized about? These are actually not the same person. Her idol growing up was her older brother, Brandon. He was her absolute hero and she worshiped him and wanted to be just like him when she grew up. The first person she really fantasized about was probably Rhaegar Targaryen, though, or maybe his wife. Or both. Both is good.
